Fall is one of the most popular choices when it comes to selecting a season to have your wedding. In fact, there are several reasons why this is true. One of the most important factors is that autumn has much better weather for an outdoor wedding. Overall, it’s typically not as hot and muggy. More importantly, it is the natural scenery during the fall is second to none. It’s easy to be inspired with fall wedding ideas from the sight and smells alone!
Most brides planning an outdoor wedding consider the fall time very seriously. The bright and vivid colors that the trees and plant life produce just before they drop their leaves. Consequently, it can really save you a lot of cash on wedding decorations! Below you will find some fun fall wedding ideas ranging from color palettes to centerpiece ideas. Hopefully, it will help you get the most out of your fall wedding.
Color Palettes
For a fall wedding, most brides tend to stick to the old rule of warm colors. The goal is to match the warm colors found in nature during that season. There are lots of reds, oranges, and browns to be seen on the plants and trees. So, choosing colors that fit into that palette is always a great choice. Perhaps you’re looking to choose colors that go well with the natural warm colors but stick out a little more than blend in. Consider choosing something like purple can really be a dramatic fit. Honestly, your purple dresses and wedding decorations will probably stick out from the background. However, everything will accompany each other nicely and blend very well together.
Fall Wedding Ideas for your Cake
Much like your color palette, most wedding cake designs in the fall feature warm colors. Moreover, they usually look more like a piece of natural art rather than a wedding cake. Floral designs are usually used quite heavily in the design of a fall wedding cake. However, this is open to personal taste. One of my favorite cake designs included alternating layers of apple cake and cream-cheese frosting. They were stacked high to create an “inside-out” design; very cool! The finished wedding cake was brushed with a citrus glaze and adorned with fresh apples, leaves, and a dusting of powdered sugar. It was absolutely to die for!
Fall Wedding Ideas for your Centerpieces
There are several different routes you can take when choosing a fall wedding centerpiece. However, most brides stick to a classic flower bouquet appropriate for the season. If you choose to go this route, think gold or brown vases with a variety of warm colored flowers. To top it off, add a few branches to signify the closing of the season. If you do this, you’ll have a timeless centerpiece that will look fantastic!
My personal favorite fall centerpiece followed this exact recipe; but featured fresh pumpkins as the vase. They also added a few wedding sparklers to the pumpkins. It was a simple and elegant way to distribute them for their wedding exit after the reception. It took a bit of work hollowing out each pumpkin by hand. However, we served roasted pumpkin seeds right at the reception tables. In the end, it was a really nice touch that the guests have mentioned more than once.
Hopefully, these fall wedding ideas will help to spark your creativity. Autumn offers so much right out of the gates, so it is an easy choice as far as seasons go. Remember to embrace the natural beauty of the season! If you incorporate it into every part of your theme, you will never be disappointed.
